Senior EstimatorLocation - Bolton, Greater ManchesterSalary/Package - £65,000 - £90,000 DOE + Comprehensive Benefits PackageAbout the CompanyOur client is a long-established and highly respected civil engineering and infrastructure contractor with a history spanning more than 150 years. Their continued success is driven by a strong pipeline of secured work, long-term framework agreements, and a commitment to delivering high-quality projects safely and efficiently.Due to continued growth and a healthy order book, they are now seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join their commercial team based in Bolton.The RoleAs Senior Estimator, you will play a key role in the preparation and submission of competitive tenders across a broad range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
Working closely with operational, commercial, and pre-construction teams, you will be responsible for producing accurate cost estimates and supporting the successful acquisition of new business opportunities.As Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for:Preparing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for civil engineering projects.Reviewing tender documentation, specifications, drawings, and contract requirements.Obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations.Identifying risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions during the tender process.Liaising with operational teams to develop competitive and deliverable bid strategies.Attending site visits and pre-tender meetings where required.Producing pricing schedules, bills of quantities, and tender reports.Supporting negotiations with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.Maintaining accurate records of estimates and tender submissions.Assisting in the continuous improvement of estimating processes and procedures.The Ideal CandidateThe successful Senior Estimator will have:Proven experience in an Estimator or Senior Estimator role within the civil engineering sector.Strong knowledge of infrastructure projects including highways, water, drainage, utilities, or general civils.Experience pricing projects ranging from small works through to multi-million-pound contracts.Excellent understanding of construction methods, contracts, and procurement routes.Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills.Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.Experience working with estimating software and Microsoft Office packages.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.A proactive and organised approach with strong attention to detail.Full UK driving licence.What's on OfferBasic salary of £65,000 - £90,000 depending on experience.Company car or car allowance.Annual bonus scheme.Pension contribution.Private healthcare.Life assurance.Generous annual leave entitlement.Ongoing training and professional development.Opportunity to join a financially secure and growing business with turnover exceeding £100 million.Long-term career progression within a well-established and highly regarded civil engineering contractor.Apply: If you're interested in this opportunity, then please get in touch today with our Commercial Specialist, Mark Harris.Building Careers UK specialises in Construction and Property recruitment and serves as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and an employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
