Patient Coordinator – NHS
Job Summary
We are searching for the right candidate for a 27.5 hour per week role, with a proactive, can‑do approach, passion, integrity and motivation to enable the practice to meet its agreed aims and objectives and to tackle NHS challenges. The role involves a wide range of reception and administrative duties.
The Purpose of the Role
* Welcome patients and visitors to the surgery
* Deal with any problems courteously and respectfully
* Use the computerized appointment system, SystmOne
* Ensure all patients who need urgent care are accommodated according to practice protocols
* Respond to all queries and requests from patients and visitors
* Process tasks from clinicians and other colleagues
* Provide good customer care
* Actively contribute to the achievement of practice objectives and ensure relevant CQC standards are maintained
Working Hours / Pattern
Week 1: Monday 13:00‑18:30, Tuesday 07:45‑13:15, Wednesday 13:00‑18:30, Thursday 07:45‑13:15, Friday 13:00‑18:30
Week 2: Monday 07:45‑13:15, Tuesday 13:00‑18:30, Wednesday 13:00‑18:30, Thursday 07:45‑13:15, Friday 07:45‑13:15

Main Duties of the Job
See attached job description and personal specification. The role may be adjusted periodically after review and consultation. You will also be expected to undertake any additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Practice Manager or Senior GP.
About Us
We are a friendly and supportive GP surgery providing a high standard of care to around 7,800 patients. Our multidisciplinary team includes GPs, Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, health care assistants, phlebotomy staff, first contact physiotherapists, paramedics, clinical pharmacists, social prescribers, receptionists and administrators. We are part of the M‑WEB Primary Care Network working collaboratively with other surgeries. We have an open, honest ethos and value every member’s input.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications:
* GCSE English and Mathematics Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)
* Minimum 2 years experience in healthcare administration or GP practice environment
* Excellent communication skills across all levels
* Good organisational skills
* IT literate with standard software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office)
* Numerate and analytical skills
* Self‑motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision, while knowing when to report to line manager
* Problem‑solving ability within area of work/knowledge
* Effective time, workload and resource management
Desirable:
* Challenge current processes and try new ways to improve efficiency
* Adaptability and response to change
* Experience using the SystmOne computer programme
* Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and protocols
