We are now recruiting for an ICT Network and Comms Specialist at our Head Office.
It is the responsibility of the ICT Network and Comms Specialist to assist the ICT team with the overall management, delivery, and deployment of all group network infrastructure and communication systems, ensuring that ICT policies and procedures are met.
In this varied role, you will maintain high levels of safety, availability and reliability for all ICT systems by ensuring the effective and accurate provision of a diverse range of ICT duties. You will identify areas for improvement and act as subject matter expert for all aspects of networking and secure configuration practises.
You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.

Key Responsibilities
It is the responsibility of the ICT Network and Comms Specialist to assist the ICT team with the overall management, delivery, and deployment of all group network infrastructure and communication systems, ensuring that ICT policies and procedures are met.
Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:
* Maintain high levels of safety, availability and reliability for all ICT systems by ensuring the effective and accurate provision of a diverse range of ICT duties.
* Provide 3rd line support for network & comms systems (Meraki, Cisco, Checkpoint & Mitel).
* Manage monitoring and optimisation of the networking platforms (LAN, WAN & Cloud)
* Manage monitoring and optimisation of the voice platforms using 3rd party support where required.
* Manage suppliers & partners as necessary in the delivery and maintenance of outsourced network services & solutions (NOC/MSP’s etc).
* Bring new partners into the business where gaps in service / service improvements are required. Document and maintain configuration for the design, configuration, routines, processes, and tools of the network infrastructure.
* Identify areas for improvement. Recommend solutions based on the analysis of business requirements and follow defined best practice guidelines and frameworks E.g. ITIL
* Ensure that IT continuity plans, technology and tools safeguard data integrity, security and access.
* Plan and prioritise work to ensure that deadlines and targets are met.
* Liaise with both technical and non-technical professionals to resolve issues.
* Act as an escalation point for difficult or complex incidents.
* Ensure that incidents are dealt with according to customer and priority needs.
* Understand the business and its objectives.
* Coordinate with teams within IT to ensure that service outages are correctly communicated to the business or affected users.
* Work with the project management team or other virtual teams as required including some travel abroad.
* When required represent the ICT Department at team, department, and supplier meetings.
* Develop and maintain knowledge and skills and keep up to date with new processes, procedures and developments and attend training to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
* Subject matter expert for all aspects of secure configuration practices, VLAN’s, QOS, scripting & maintenance, network security protocols
* Subject Matter Expert in networking, working with WAN, MPLS, VPN, LAN, Firewalls & Telecoms technologies.
* Cisco, Meraki, Checkpoint, Azure Cloud & M365.
* Implement, manage and maintain 3rd party support contracts & managed services ensuring SLA’s are met and services are delivered
* Establish strong, effective working relationships with all members of the ICT Department and it’s key customers – internal and external enabling the delivery of required results through efficient, effective collaboration and service delivery.
* Remain up to date with ICT system technologies and other relevant industry best practice, trends and statutory requirements, thereby actively improving by developing new and enhancing existing skills and knowledge, learning from past experiences and adapting behaviour in response to feedback Ensure internal and external compliance requirements, undertake assigned audits, communicating outcomes and supporting and driving action points.
* Provide support to / take part in the ICT on call team.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* Degree in relevant ICT subject
* Cisco networking experience working with Cisco, Meraki, Checkpoint, Azure Cloud & M365.
* Demonstrable knowledge of secure configuration practices, VLAN’s, QOS, scripting & maintenance, 802.1x or other network security protocols.
* Experience with the physical design & installation of Local Area Networks
* Experience with managing Wide Area Networks
