Behaviour Support Assistant (Graduates Welcome)

Newcastle | North Tyneside | Northumberland
Start date: Immediate
Pay: £89.38 – £115 per day (PAYE, no umbrella companies)

Looking for a role that’s meaningful, fast-paced and actually builds your experience?

We’re working with welcoming schools across Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland who are looking for confident, calm and motivated Behaviour/Learning Support Assistants to start immediately. This role is ideal for graduates, especially if you’re thinking about a future in teaching, educational psychology, pastoral work or youth support.

Why this role?

You’ll be right at the heart of the school day, supporting pupils to stay engaged, regulated and ready to learn. It’s hands-on, rewarding work where no two days are ever the same.

You’ll be:

* Supporting pupils in lessons, small groups or 1:1

* Helping manage behaviour and engagement in a positive, consistent way

* Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils who need extra support

* Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams

This role is perfect if you:

* Are a graduate, especially in psychology, criminology, education, sociology, sports science or similar

* Have experience in support work, youth work, mentoring, coaching or care

* Are resilient, patient and confident building rapport

* Want hands-on school experience that genuinely counts

No school experience yet? That’s absolutely fine. Attitude, empathy and consistency matter more, we can support the rest.

Requirements

To work in schools, you’ll need:

* The right to work in the UK

* A DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one

* Two professional references

* A calm, reliable and professional approach

* The ability to commit to school hours during term time

Experience supporting behaviour or additional needs is a big plus, but not essential if you’ve got the right mindset and motivation.

The Protocol perks

This is where we do things a bit differently.

* Competitive daily pay £89.38–£115

* Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies, no hidden deductions

* Immediate starts in local schools

* FREE access to our CPD Academy, including behaviour, SEND and safeguarding training

* FREE Thrive training, a big tick for schools and a real CV booster

* A dedicated local consultant who knows your area, your schools and actually answers the phone

* Ongoing roles available, with opportunities to move into long-term or permanent positions

We don’t just place you and disappear. We support you, check in, and help you build experience that moves your career forward.

Already Thrive trained? Amazing, schools love it. Not yet? We’ll sort that for you.

If you want a role that challenges you, develops you and genuinely makes a difference, this is a brilliant place to start.

Apply now and let’s get you into a school that fits.
