Pharmaceutical Analyst / Senior Clinical Pharmacist (Ref: 223417) National Cancer Medicines Advisory Group / Area Drug and Therapeutic Committee Collaborative £62,681 - £67,665 (Band 8A) Full time (37 hours per week) Permanent Edinburgh/Glasgow - hybrid working will apply for the foreseeable future Following promotion of the current post-holder, an exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and positive individual to be part of the Medicines and Pharmacy Team within Healthcare Improvement Scotland. The work programme includes a range of different work streams to improve the safe, efficient and effective use of medicines across Scotland, working with key partners both externally and internally. This is an exciting joint post between the

Area Drug and Therapeutic Committee Collaborative (ADTCC)

and the

National Cancer Medicines Advisory Group (NCMAG). The post-holder will support both programmes to achieve their key deliverables as agreed with Scottish Government and will be responsible for driving assigned pieces of work. Both of these programmes focus on improving national consistency, reducing clinical variation, improving efficiency through a ‘Once for Scotland’ approach and supporting shared decision making. The post-holder will lead the collaboration on, and development of, national advice and guidance documents, for example advice on the use of off-label cancer medicines and operational guidance to support the use of medicines through MHRA Early Access to Medicines (EAMS) Schemes. The innovative NCMAG programme, performs health technology assessment of clinician-submitted proposals for off-label and off-patent uses of cancer medicines. NCMAG Council considers the clinical- and cost-effectiveness of proposals and shares advice with NHSScotland’s territorial health boards. The programme works alongside Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) and existing local systems for access to cancer medicines. The post-holder's role includes liasing with the cancer care clinical community on proposal assessment and horizon scanning, supporting the evidence review process and council member decision making. We are seeking an experienced clinical pharmacist with excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary environment, with clinical and non-clinical staff including with Health Service Researchers, Health Economists and support staff. You should have highly developed critical evaluation and analytical skills, excellent oral and written presentation skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues to strict deadlines. The post-holder will lead appraisals of clinical studies and establish robust and consistent methods and processes to support the delivery of these programmes. The ability to lead a team, influence and work collaboratively across organisational boundaries is central to the success of this role. The successful candidate will have demonstrable understanding of health technology assessment, in depth knowledge of medicines legislation and NHS Scotland medicines governance policies and processes. The candidate must be able demonstrate the ability to prioritise work and work well within teams against a background of change and uncertainty, and be self-motivated, proactive, and innovative.
