Overview

Come and Join Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, where we offer a wide variety of challenging and rewarding roles within a supportive, innovative and dynamic work environment! We currently have vacancies for experienced Health Care Assistants to come and join our expanding team on the Belvoir Ward which is a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) ward based at the Bradgate Mental Health Unit.

Role and requirements

The role of the HCA will be to work as part of the nursing team and you will support people through their recovery with both their physical health and their mental health needs. We are looking for candidates with prior experience working in a healthcare setting, who is confident in supporting patients with complex mental health needs and is compassionate, caring and confident when dealing with difficult situations.

Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICU) are specialised wards that provide inpatient mental health care, assessment and comprehensive treatment to individuals who are experiencing the most acutely disturbed phase of a serious mental disorder, where some individuals present with acute distress and maybe an absconding, suicide, or self-harm risk.

Belvoir Ward is a 10-bed Male Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit which has a higher staff to patient ratio compared to most wards which creates a sense of safety and a supportive team environment.

It is a high-acuity environment where incidents of violence and aggression can occur, so the successful applicant must be resilient, emotionally robust, and able to remain calm and professional in challenging situations. You will need strong communication skills, the ability to follow risk management plans, and a commitment to delivering safe, compassionate, and respectful care as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Support and development

The health and wellbeing of our team members is very important to us and we offer a robust induction period, as well as regular supervision and support. You will have opportunities to progress your career with a structured learning journey that will enable you to achieve your long-term goals and work to your strengths.
