Job Description
Trainee Rental Operations Manager
Location: London E14 (Docklands)
Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 17:00
The Opportunity
Are you looking to launch a career in automotive management in the heart of London’s business district?
We are opening a brand-new rental department based in E14, Docklands, and we are looking for a driven, organised individual to grow with us.
This is a Trainee Management role. We don't expect you to know everything on day one. Instead, we are looking for someone with the right attitude who we can train and mould into a future leader of our business.
You will start by managing our fleet of Licensed Taxi Rentals, ensuring our vehicles are roadworthy and our drivers are supported. As you gain confidence, you will be given the autonomy to help launch our B2B Contract Hire division, servicing limited companies in the Canary Wharf area and beyond.
What You Will Learn & Do
You will be hands-on from the start, with full support and training provided for every aspect of the role.
1. Fleet & Rental Operations
* Daily Management: Manage the check-out and check-in process for vehicles, ensuring all rental agreements and compliance documents are correct.
* Customer Service: Act as the main point of contact for taxi drivers, handling queries and ensuring they have a smooth rental experience.
* Business Growth: Assist in setting up the processes for our future corporate contract hire service for local businesses.
2. Maintenance & Logistics
* Vendor Coordination: You will be responsible for booking vehicles into garages and bodyshops for repairs, MOTs, and taxi inspections.
* Cost Control: Learn how to review garage invoices, challenge excessive costs, and ensure we are getting the best value for money.
* Fleet Standards: Ensure our vehicles are always roadworthy and compliant with TfL and local authority regulations.
3. Insurance & Claims (Full Training Provided)
* Notification of Loss (FNOL): You will receive specialist training on how to handle the critical first stages of an accident report.
* Claims Collaboration: You will work directly alongside our experienced Claims Department, learning how to manage liability, recovery, and credit hire.
* Damage Assessment: Learn how to spot vehicle damage and process recharges to drivers or insurance companies.
The Ideal Candidate
We hire for attitude and train for skill. You do not need previous rental experience, but you must be eager to learn.
o Ambitious: You want a career, not just a job. You are excited by the idea of helping build a new department.
o Organised: You can juggle multiple tasks—from a driver on the phone to a mechanic waiting for authorisation.
o Resilient: The automotive industry moves fast. You need to be calm under pressure and ready to solve problems.
o Full UK Driving Licence: Essential, as you will be moving vehicles between sites.
Why Join Us?
o Prime Location: Work in a dynamic environment near Canary Wharf with excellent transport links.
o Work-Life Balance: rare for the automotive industry, this role is Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.
o Career Progression: Fast-track your career from Trainee to Department Manager within 12 months.
