We’re looking for a passionate, people-focused individual to join us and help shape the future of Hafod. We’re particularly keen to hear from people with expertise in finance, audit, risk or assurance. This may include experience gained through professional roles, voluntary positions or lived experience within regulated or complex organisations.
Your expertise will support the Committee in providing effective scrutiny, assurance and constructive challenge, helping to ensure strong financial governance and long-term sustainability, playing an important role in delivering positive outcomes for our customers, communities, and colleagues.
What you’ll do
As an Independent Committee Member, you’ll play an important role in supporting strong governance across Hafod. You’ll help ensure the committee operates effectively and in line with its terms of reference, using sound judgement, independence and integrity to provide constructive scrutiny, assurance and challenge. You’ll contribute to collective decision making and help make sure the right controls, policies and frameworks are in place and working as they should.
Working collaboratively with other committee members and the executive team, you’ll bring sound judgement, integrity and a people focused approach, always acting in the best interests of the organisation, its customers and communities.
If you’re motivated by social impact, passionate about improving lives, and confident in strategic decision-making, this is your opportunity to make a real difference.
What you’ll need
You’ll need motivation and at least 2 days per month to carry out your duties. In return this role can be hugely rewarding and a great opportunity to learn and develop.
You’ll have an interest in housing, care, and support, understanding the challenges and opportunities within these sectors, and committed to improving the lives of our customers, communities, and colleagues.
Whilst previous experience as an Independent Committee Member would be beneficial, it isn’t necessary. We provide a tailored induction to help you become confident in your new role addressing areas that may be new to you.
Occasional travel to our head office in Cardiff and our other sites across South Wales will be a requirement of this role.
We want our Board to better reflect the communities we serve. We actively encourage applications from women, people from racially and ethnically diverse backgrounds, disabled people, younger applicants and those with lived experience. Diversity strengthens our decision-making and helps us deliver better outcomes for our communities. Whatever your journey or identity, you’ll be valued, supported, and empowered to make a difference.
We encourage applications from those with experience in our sector and those who come from outside it. In line with our support of the Tai Pawb “Deeds not Words” pledge we will be offering a guaranteed interview to applicants from under-represented groups who meet the essential criteria and those who have completed the Pathway to Board development scheme.
