We’re looking for a Director, Global Engineering Delivery to join our ever-evolving Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO)to help us unleash the potential of every business.

About the team

The Director role within the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end delivery of complex enterprise technology programs. The Director will collaborate with various program groups external to the CTO to ensure seamless execution and alignment with organizational goals.

What you’ll own

The role of the Director encompasses:

* Lead the management of our large-scale technology programs, including tech separation and transformation initiatives.
* Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, while meeting quality standards.
* Foster strong relationships with key resources and stakeholders to ensure collaboration and integration across groups.
* Agree strategy and tactics for the successful delivery of large programme with the Accountable Engineering Owner (AEO)
* Maintain regular dialog with the AEO and the Head of Global Delivery Management Office on workplan, progress, issues escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the Programme Lead’s sphere of influence.
* Collaborate freely and with a high degree of transparency with senior Engineering leaders at the CTO -1 and -2 level.
* Exceptional communication skills. The ability to vary style and narrative be credible with engineers, product, commercial teams and execs.
* The ability to inspire and motivate engineering teams.
* Build solid technical understanding of the problems we are needing to solve and the solutions we are developing.
* Demonstrate the intellectual curiosity to acquire all knowledge necessary to be effective in role.
* Evidence a high degree of experience in the execution of complex software engineering programmes
* Build a relationship of trust and credibility with the Engineering and Product teams
* Understand the workload and total demands on the teams demonstrating empathy and support with an expert understanding of effective human dynamics, to create the trust required to lead the teams to success.
* Mastery of detail with the ability to translate that to high level narrative suitable for C suite stakeholders.
* Problem solving, the ability to inspire teams to solve problems. The ability to generate recommendations and drive decisions.
* Agree a suitable approach to programme structure utilising ‘just enough process’ to provide the necessary structure without creating undue burden on the technical teams.
* Expert at Agile delivery at scale and agile planning. Comfortable with leading through uncertainty whilst demonstrating confidence.
* Generate and maintain plans to drive execution and manage expectations. This be maintained in the form of both task based execution for the engineering teams, and business value delivered for business teams and execs.
* The ability to structure, lead and inspire the project management roles within the programme defining and enforcing standards and expectations.
* Reporting – The ability to be able to translate between what is happening on the ground to the top level narrative.
* Expert writing skills to be able to summarise and translate the core of the narrative of what matters as to the audience into a number of formats and templates
* Agree and Implement a reporting structure that meets the needs of the exec stakeholders.

What you bring

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in global project and program management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale technology projects and programs in a matrixed, global environment.
- Strong understanding of demand management, capacity planning, and agile methodologies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships across the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to drive strategic initiatives and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.

Preferred Skills:
- Experience in technology transformation programs and tech separation projects.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Trello).
- Familiarity with agile frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
