ROLE: Design Engineer LOCATION: Kettering HOURS OF WORK: Mon-Thurs 8:30am-5pm / Fri 9:30am-5pm BASIC SALARY: £43,000-£50,000 ADDITIONAL BENEFITS: Free onsite parking, pension scheme, Christmas bonus, expenses or pool cars, canteen facilities, free tea & coffee Company Profile Our client is seeking a Design Engineer to join their engineering and manufacturing organisation based in Kettering on a permanent basis. They design and build recycling equipment, materials handling systems, and bespoke conveyor machinery for a wide range of industrial customers. In this Design Engineer role, you will: Produce 3D models, layouts, and detailed designs using SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Design sheet metal and fabricated components for conveyor systems and special-purpose machinery. Create GA drawings, BOMs, and support projects from concept to commissioning. Integrate machinery and equipment into efficient plant layouts. Work with Sales, Projects, Manufacturing, suppliers, and customers. Support continuous improvement across design quality, standards, and cost efficiency. In order to be successful as a Design Engineer you must: Have Design or Project Engineering experience. Be proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Have strong sheet metal and fabricated product design experience (essential). Experience with conveyors or special-purpose machinery (desirable). Good understanding of regulatory and basic electrical principles. Strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills. HNC or equivalent in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering.
