Orchard House Surgery is looking to welcome a qualified dispenser into our busy practice, on a part time basis for 16 hours per week, covering either the following shifts;
Tuesday 9.30am-6pm
Friday 8.30am-5pm
Or;
Monday 1pm-5pm
Tuesday 2pm-6pm
Thursday 2pm-6pm
Friday 1pm - 5pm
Main duties of the job
* Receiving prescription requests for repeat items either by fax, post, email or reception. Generation of such scripts for signing and dispensing as required.
* Dispensing prescriptions as required for cross checking by other dispensary staff or doctors.
* Maintaining stock of drugs/bottles/related stationery.
* Ordering stock via modem and internet.
* Security and the safe custody of medicines, including compliance with the law relating to controlled drugs.
* Maintaining a practical knowledge of the Drug Tariff and endorsing prescriptions for the Pricing Bureau at the end of each month, informing the practice manager accordingly.
* Checking and ensuring fee exemptions at the point of prescription collection.
* Assisting the dispensary manager as required with replenishing and drug date expiry control of doctors medical bags.
* Ensuring all doctors bags are checked at least annually.
* Daily reconcile the dispensary till and credit card terminal for monies received from paid prescriptions. Occasional drug deliveries to outlying villages.

We are a 6-partner PMS practice with approx. 11,400 patients and employ 3 further salaried doctors. The practice is one of three based in Newmarket that provides a high level of care to our patients in Newmarket and surrounding villages. The post benefits from 5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays. Informal visits are welcome and encouraged.

Experience
* At least one year of dispensary or pharmacy knowledge.
* Understanding and experience of working as a dispenser in a GP practice setting.
* Demonstrate judgement, resourcefulness, common sense and empathy when dealing with patients.
* Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure without immediate supervision.
* Ability to work as part of rota system as detailed.
* Ability to multi-task and maintain a stress-free environment.
* Computer literate, working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
* Flexibility to change hours/work additional hours occasionally to fit in with teams holiday/sickness absence.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
£22,600 to £23,700 a year pro-rata, dependent on experience.
