A fantastic and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Housekeeping to join our team at Maples Care Home.
This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week on a rota basis between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm, Monday to Sunday.
Job Purpose
To supervise daily Domestic and Laundry Staff to ensure high standards of cleanliness and a first-class laundry service for the home and residents.
Job Duties
* Understand how to clean various furnishings and equipment according to training and manufacturer’s guidelines.
* Monitor equipment and machinery condition, reporting issues to maintenance.
* Manage stock levels of cleaning and laundry materials, ordering as needed with your Line Manager.
* Ensure resident rooms are always prepared for viewings and visits.
* Ensure compliance with COSHH regulations and maintain records.
* Discuss and approve replacement of equipment with your Line Manager.
* Monitor linen and bedding stock, arranging repairs and replacements as needed.
Management
* Ensure staff compliance with COSHH regulations and proper uniform and protective clothing.
* Plan monthly rotas in coordination with the Manager.
* Supervise and appraise staff, encouraging their development.
General
* Maintain a safe, clean environment throughout the building.
* Handle complaints regarding domestic or laundry issues per company policy.
* Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
* Work weekly hours as agreed, including some weekends and public holidays.
* Complete mandatory training and facilitate in-house training sessions.
Skills, Requirements, and Attributes
* Previous supervisory experience in housekeeping.
* NVQ Level 3 Supervisor qualification is advantageous.
* Ability to take initiative and improve the resident environment.
* Strong oral and written communication skills.
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
