Post No. EST0081.1 - Skills & Project Teacher - Llanwern High School
Required for September 2025, subject to completion of pre-employment and safeguarding checks.
Llanwern High School is an 11-18 mixed comprehensive school serving much of the eastern side of Newport. We are housed in a new building that provides a learning environment and facilities appropriate for a 21st-century school. We currently have just over 1100 pupils on roll.
We believe that education should be about preparing young people with the key skills and behaviours that they will need for a successful future, hence our school vision of "Nurture, Growth, Success for All".
We pride ourselves on the wider opportunities to support pupil development outside of the classroom, such as our recent production of Grease, our Cultural Showcase, alongside regular sporting fixtures. We have a pupil leadership team actively involved in decision-making across the school and supporting community projects.
In 2022, we received the inaugural Betty Campbell MBE award for promoting the contributions and perspectives of Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic communities. We foster an environment of kindness and respect, built upon positive relationships between pupils and staff.
At Llanwern High School, you would be part of a supportive environment with staff wellbeing a high priority. We offer high-quality support and bespoke professional learning opportunities, including a new middle leaders' course launched in September 2024 for aspiring senior leaders.
This role suits an experienced teacher, ideally with significant primary phase teaching experience, seeking a new challenge in a different context. The successful candidate will be able to teach across various subjects, focusing on project work to develop pupils' skills.
The candidate should be able to teach across all ability ranges, particularly Years 7-9, with an emphasis on accelerating literacy and numeracy skills.
