Overview
Riverside Recruitment are seeking a Freshwater Operative for a Hatchery based near Carlisle. This role requires no experience as full training will be provided. A driving license and access to your own vehicle is essential due to the location of the hatchery.
Responsibilities
* Fish Husbandry: Daily feeding, visual health inspections, and recording mortality.
* Water Quality & Environment: Monitoring and adjusting environmental factors like temperature and oxygen levels to meet the needs of the fish.
* Equipment Maintenance: Operating and maintaining hatchery equipment, including incubators, aeration systems, and tanks.
* Stock Management: Grading fish by size, performing vaccinations, and conducting stock assessments.
* Hygiene & Security: Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and security at the hatchery site.
* Record Keeping: Monitoring and recording data on feed, growth, and health to improve breeding practices.
Skills/Experience
Candidates should be active, self-motivated, mature minded individuals with excellent team working and communication skills. Computer literacy and a technical aptitude would be advantageous, as is possession of a current driving licence.
Working Hours
37.5 hours per week on a rota to include weekends. An on call rota will also be in place 1 in 4 weeks.
