We are seeking a committed and compassionate Band 5 Registered Sick Children's Nurse to join our Paediatric team. You will deliver high quality, evidence based nursing care to babies, children and young people aged 18 years with a wide range of acute and chronic physical and mental health needs.
Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will assess patients, plan and deliver individualised care, and support children and families throughout their healthcare journey. You will also contribute to health promotion, patient education and service improvement, while maintaining the highest standards of professional practice in line with the NMC Code.
Main duties of the job
* Deliver safe, effective and childcentred nursing care using evidencebased practice.
* Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised care plans for children and young people.
* Carry out a range of essential nursing procedures and clinical assessments.
* Monitor patient condition, recognise clinical deterioration and escalate concerns appropriately.
* Administer medications safely in accordance with policies and guidelines.
* Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive patient records.
* Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care and safe discharge planning.
* Provide information, advice and support to children, young people and their families to promote health and wellbeing.
* Supervise and mentor junior staff and students, supporting learning and development.
* Act as nurse in charge when required, contributing to the smooth running of the ward.

Job responsibilities
As a Band 5 Staff Nurse within Paediatrics, you will be responsible for delivering consistently high standards of nursing care in a busy and dynamic clinical environment. You will communicate effectively with children, families and carers, including sharing sensitive or complex information in an empathetic and professional manner.
You will use your clinical judgement to make informed decisions about patient care, escalating concerns to senior colleagues when appropriate. The role involves undertaking a range of clinical competencies relevant to an acute paediatric setting and ensuring care is delivered in line with national guidance, Trust policies and safeguarding requirements.
You will actively contribute to clinical governance through participation in audits, quality improvement initiatives and the ongoing development of practice. Maintaining your own professional development is essential, and you will be supported through appraisal and ongoing training opportunities.

Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent in nursing
* Registered Sick Childrens Nurse
Experience
* Have a commitment to continuous professional development
* Have experience in a relevant clinical setting
* Previous experience supervising junior colleagues or students
Additional Criteria
* Have a good knowledge and understanding of current nursing practice and national guidelines
* Understanding of audit and quality improvement processes
