What We’re Looking For
Lloyd's Register Technical Support Office supports Shipyards, Owners, Navies, Designers, and Manufacturers, driving maritime safety for people, the environment, and ships. We are currently looking for a qualified candidate to join our Southampton Office for the Machinery Specialised Projects Team. The role involves plan approval of maritime machinery components (e.g., marine engines, steer gears, windlasses, winches) and machinery dynamics (torsional, axial, lateral vibrations, shaft alignment, resilient mounted machinery) in accordance with international standards, class rules, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
* Carry out plan approval of machinery components and dynamics per Lloyd’s Register Rules & Regulations, statutory, and international standards
* Monitor revisions to statutory, rule, and flag requirements and apply as needed
* Build and maintain good relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
* Provide technical advice to clients
* Discuss and present deliverables, suggest solutions
* Manage projects, monitor progress, and budget
* Mentor less experienced colleagues
Qualifications and Experience
* Must hold or be able to achieve UK SC security clearance
* Bachelor’s or master's in mechanical/marine engineering or equivalent; Chartered/Professional qualification preferred
* Experience in offshore or marine machinery and engineering system design or appraisal
* Knowledge in piping systems, machinery components, dynamics, or pressure equipment
* Knowledge of Quality Assurance systems is a plus
* Ability to work independently and in teams, prioritize, meet deadlines, and work under pressure
* Strong relationship-building skills with clients
* Proficiency in English and effective interpersonal skills
