A well-established boarding school in Reading is seeking an experienced and proactive Premises Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and safety of the school’s extensive site. Premises Manager required – ASAP start Boarding school based in Reading Senior site role with responsibility for residential and academic facilities The role involves overall responsibility for the smooth running, security, and compliance of the school premises, including boarding accommodation, classrooms, sports facilities, and grounds. You will manage facilities staff and contractors, ensure statutory compliance, and work closely with senior leaders to support both the academic and residential aspects of school life. Key Responsibilities Full oversight of school buildings, grounds, and boarding accommodation Ensuring compliance with health & safety, fire safety, and statutory regulations Managing maintenance schedules, refurbishments, and site projects Line management of caretaking and facilities staff Liaising with contractors and external service providers Supporting boarding operations, including out-of-hours and on-call requirements Experience and Qualifications Proven experience in a Premises Manager, Facilities Manager, or Estates role Strong knowledge of health & safety and statutory compliance Experience managing teams and contractors Ability to manage a large, multi-use site effectively Flexibility to support the demands of a boarding school environment Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one) School Information This Reading-based boarding school is known for its strong community ethos, high standards, and well-maintained facilities.
