Northampton – Head of Payroll – £50k to £65k
We are recruiting for a senior payroll leader to head up the payroll function within a highly regarded accountancy and professional services firm. This is a key management position, combining hands-on technical delivery with leadership of the payroll team and oversight of the team. Key Responsibilities:
Lead the end-to-end payroll process for a wide portfolio of clients
Manage, develop, and support the payroll team
Take ownership of complex and larger client payrolls
Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, pensions, and legislation
Drive improvements, automation, and system development
Collaborate with internal teams and external providers
Act as the firm’s payroll expert for queries and escalations
Support business development and onboarding of new clients
Key Requirements:
Proven experience in payroll management
Good technical knowledge, with accountancy practice or bureau experience helpful
Ability to balance leadership with hands-on client delivery
Commercial acumen and interest in developing the bureau offering
