Senior Geotechnical Engineer Manchester£38,000 - £42,000
A leading ground investigation contractor in Manchester is seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to take a key role in the delivery and management of site investigation projects across the Northwest.
This position is focused on ground investigation, project delivery and team leadership ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on, operational environment rather than pure design consultancy work.
The Role
You will be responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of ground investigation projects, including:
* Planning and programming site investigations
* Managing rotary and cable percussion drilling, window sampling and trial pitting
* Supervising drilling crews and subcontractors
* Logging soil and rock in accordance with BS5930 and Eurocode 7
* Scheduling and interpreting laboratory testing
* Producing factual and interpretative geotechnical reports
* Managing budgets, timelines and client communication
* Mentoring junior engineers and engineering geologists
* Ensuring health & safety compliance on site
You will split your time between site and office, taking ownership of multiple projects simultaneously.
Requirements
* Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology or Civil Engineering
* Strong UK ground investigation experience (5+ years)
* Excellent soil and rock logging skills
* Experience managing GI projects and supervising teams
* Strong report writing ability
* Full UK driving licence
* Working towards Chartership desirable
