Process Mechanical / Electrical / Controls & Instrumentation Commissioning Engineer
Role description
Commissioning activities for a gas power project in UK, until successful handover to the customer. The scope of activities will be:
•Hands-on commissioning of process / mechanical components and systems such as, fuel supply system, firefighting and fire protection systems, cooling water, demin water systems and HVAC; electrical components and systems such as, transformers, high and low voltage switchgears, DC systems, rectifiers, inverters, and instruments such as DCS, including communications to foreign devices, PLCs, control system software, analytical instrumentation, motorised and pneumatic valves, instruments, transmitters, loop checks, etc.
•Carrying out and managing piping networks cleaning using various methods such as pigging, air blowing, flushing, etc.
•Carrying out testing on mechanical systems and equipment, as well as system optimization and troubleshooting and filling-in the respective commissioning documentation and protocols.
•Cooperation with internal team members, guidance and coordination of external partners and sub-contractors, interacting with customers.
•Managing and leading the team of mechanical engineers, electrical supervisors, technicians, etc. Participate in the Plan of the Day meeting daily providing resourceful inputs on the work progress.
•Ensure all the activities conducted on site follow the correct process in accordance with project requirements and in strict compliance with all EHS requirements.
•Understands and executes the equipment clearance (LOTO) procedure, as well as Job Safety Analysis / Work Authorisation / Confined Space / Hot Work Permits.
•Coordination of all necessary activities with all involved parties, such as commissioning team, erection team and sub-contractors.
•Participation in the walk-downs for Turnover from construction to commissioning, identifying open items that prevent system start-up.
•Visual inspection of equipment/systems for correct and complete erection, adequate cleanliness, and safe access in consideration of related engineering documents, such as P&IDs, wiring diagrams, system descriptions etc.
•Preparation and update of the commissioning procedures to be conducted on site.
•Manage the documentation submission for project close-out.
•Provide theoretical and practical training to customer personnel.
•Report to the Commissioning Manager and the Head of Commissioning.
•Deputise Commissioning Manager in his / her absence.
Requirements
•At least 7 years working experience in power stations Commissioning activities with demonstrable experience in a leading role in projects of similar relevance.
•BSC Degree, or BEng / HND in Engineering.
•Strong team spirit, working with an international team and other cultures.
•Excellent communication skills.
•Strong Organizational skills.
•Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
•Fluent spoken and written English.
