Trust Doctor ST3+ in Stroke Medicine
Post based in stroke medicine, supporting ward rounds on the stroke unit, acute thrombolysis sessions, and TIA clinic. Duty includes supporting the middle‑grade acute medicine on‑call rota (1 in 23 participation).
Applicants wishing to pursue a joint Stroke plus another specialty post are invited to apply.
Main duties of the job
* Support hyper‑acute stroke, acute stroke and rehabilitation wards, providing consultant‑led ward rounds.
* Support acute thrombolysis, specialist nursing team and stroke TIA clinics.
* Participate in on‑calls for middle‑grade acute medicine rota.
Job responsibilities
* Work within the stroke medicine specialty, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
* Participate in the on‑call rota (negotiable).
Person Specification
Qualifications
* MRCP or equivalent.
* Full registration with the General Medical Council and a Licence to Practise.
Experience and Achievements
* Minimum 4 years postgraduate experience, including 1 year within stroke specialty.
* High level of clinical experience and competence in all aspects of stroke specialty.
* Understanding of current stroke issues and future direction.
* Understanding of wider NHS issues.
* Attendance at a recognised management course.
* Ability to work with and lead others across professions.
Teaching and Training
* Experience and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of postgraduate doctors and non‑medical staff.
* Academic achievements or research publications.
* Training in clinical and educational supervision.
* Attendance at a teaching course.
* Formal qualification in teaching/education.
Audit and Research
* Knowledge of audit principles and participation in audit projects.
* Critical appraisal skills.
* Research methodology knowledge.Good communication and empathy with patients.
