EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
In this influential and partnership led role, you’ll work closely with senior managers and the Senior Leadership Team to deliver outstanding, high impact internal communication and engagement across one of Severn Trent’s largest and most dynamic business areas.
You’llbe thego tocommunications partner for your directorate, able to confidently translatebusinessstrategy into compelling messaging, powering engagement, and ensuring colleagues across both field based and office teams receive clear,timelyand motivating information.
Day to dayyou’llact as a key interface between your business area and the wider Communications function, ensuring consistency, alignment and best practice delivery across channels,campaignsand events.
Working as part of our dedicated Internal Communications team,you’lluse your relationship building skills, strategicmindsetand creativity to bring our organisational goals to life for colleagues, strengthen leadership communication, and help shape a happy,healthyand high performing workplace.
You’llbe responsible for:
Strategic Partnering & Stakeholder Management
* Act as the primary communications partner for your business area, building strong, trusted relationships with senior managers and SMT members to ensure communications land effectively and drive performance.
* Understand directorateobjectives, operationalprioritiesand people challenges,using insight to shape tailored comms plans that support outcomes.
* Provide counsel to senior stakeholders on communication approach,risksand opportunities, including during periods of change or uncertainty.
* Represent your business area within the wider Communications team, ensuring alignment to central strategy, editorialprocessesand key campaigns.
Internal Communication Planning & Delivery
* Lead the creation and delivery of a comprehensive internal communications plan for your area, ensuring alignment with both directorate goals and the wider Severn Trent strategy.
* Translate complex strategies and operational messages into clear,engand accessible content for all colleague groups including dispersed, field based and frontline teams.
* Develop andmaintaina robust channels approach, using data and insight to drive improvements across digital, face to face and leadership led communication.
* Produce compelling content and communications across multiple platforms, ensuring clarity,consistencyand high editorial standards.
Change & Leadership Communications
* Oversee communications for business area change programmes, ensuring colleagues are informed,preparedand supported.
* Coach and support senior leaders on effective communication, including narrative development, storytelling, and impactful delivery.
* Ensuretimelytwo wayfeedback loops so leadersremainconnected to colleague sentiment and operational realities.
Insight, Measurement & Continuous Improvement
* Use colleague feedback,dataand channel analytics to measure impact and continuously improve communications activity.
* Identifywhat works (and whatdoesn’t), testnew approachesand harness new media to drive engagement.
* Contribute to planning,performanceand insight processes across the wider Communications team.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
Stakeholder Excellence -Strong experience building relationships at senior levels, with the confidence to challenge,influenceand guide stakeholders in a fast paced environment.
Strategic & Tactical Delivery- Proven ability to shape and deliver internal communications plans that help the business meet its goals — particularly across large,dispersedor operational teams.
Creativity & Storytelling- A passion for bringing stories to life, with excellent written skills and the ability to tailor content for different audiences and channels.
A People First Mindset- Ability to get under the skin of different colleague groups, understanding what they need, what motivates them, and how best to reach them.
Data Driven Thinking- Comfortable using data,measurementand insights to guide decisions, improve performance anddemonstratevalue.
Collaboration & Adaptability-A proactive team player who works brilliantly across multiple functions — includingExternalCampaigns, Planning & Insight, Creative, Stakeholder Engagement and External Comms.
