About the Role
As a Class 1 Shunter, you will:
* Shunt, load, and unload trailers within the depot, ensuring all units are safely and correctly positioned in designated delivery bays and yard areas.
* Support general yard operations as required to maintain a safe, efficient, and well organised site.
* Carry out comprehensive daily vehicle safety inspections using the company issued mobile device, ensuring full compliance with safety standards and optimal vehicle reliability.
* Liaise closely with the transport office and transport team, providing timely updates on trailer status, safety checks, load conditions, and operational progress to ensure customer expectations are consistently met.
* Handle local collections and deliveries as required, ensuring timely and professional service.
* Participate in regular training sessions to stay up to date with industry standards, best practices, and company procedures, continuously enhancing skills and expertise.
* Receive shunter training in line with company standards to ensure full competency, compliance, and safe operation at all times.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
* Must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence.
* Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
* Experience using a tug is desirable, though not essential, as full training will be provided.
* Demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
* Ability to work effectively to deadlines in a fast-paced operational environment.
* Confident, courteous, and able to work well both independently and as part of a team.
* Good geographical knowledge and route awareness.
* Physically fit, flexible, hardworking, and self-motivated with a positive approach to work.

* Competitive Salary: £19.00 per hour, based on 11.25 hours per shift. PLUS for all hours worked between 21:00hrs & 04:00hrs, you will receive an additional £2.75 per hour.
