An exciting opportunity has arisen for a candidate interested in a 12-month fixed-term locum medical oncology consultant post at Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.
We are looking for an enthusiastic medical oncologist to join our well-established, dedicated and supportive team.
The post will cover gynae and breast malignancies.
You will be primarily located at Queen’s Hospital, Romford, Essex where the Oncology department is based.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to provide, to a high standard, the full range of specialist diagnosis, treatment and care to patients requiring oncology services as outlined in the proposed program, including the following:
•Medical oncology management of gynae malignancy.
•Medical oncology management of breast malignancy.
•Input into the Acute Oncology Service.
•Clinic reviews.
•To work with and support the established multi-disciplinary site-specific teams.
•Outpatient chemotherapy and inpatient clinical opinions.
•To take an active role in research and clinical trials.
•Contribute actively to clinical governance within the department.
•To support and develop quality improvement projects within the department.
•Flexibility to undertake different appropriate clinical tasks within allocated DCC sessions at the request of the Clinical Leads.
•Actively participate in the department’s teaching programme and undertake supervision, teaching and training of medical trainees and other multi-professional staff, in line with guidance from the relevant Royal Colleges or specialty bodies.
To participate in clinical guidelines development, audit and CPD and ensure successful revalidation when required.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Full registration with the General Medical Council.
2. MRCP, MRCGP, FRCA or equivalent qualification.
3. Be on the specialist register for oncology or be within six months of entry at the time of interview.
4. Understand and be competent at management of all stages of Oncology to CCST or higher. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of treatment regimens and research developments
Desirable criteria
5. MD Formal training in teaching techniques, Masters degree, or other higher degree in a relevant subject.
6. Post graduate teaching diploma or similar
7. Experience with Trials
8. Poster(s) or presentation(s) at a regional, national, or international forum.
9. Published Audit / Research publications.
10. Experience of audit management
11. Leadership Qualities / Evidence of clear area of interest relevant to BHRUT strategy.
