Strategic Design and Transition Programme - Strategy Policy Specialist

Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Strategy and Policy Specialist to join the Strategic Design and Transition Programme. Your work will focus on the recommendations from the Independent Water Commission (IWC) report and the future shape and design of the EA, ensuring we protect and enhance the environment while supporting sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide high‑quality, balanced, evidence‑based advice on future thinking in light of the IWC report, especially the recommendation to create a single water regulator.
* Engage with colleagues across Government, within the EA, and other regulators to ensure collaborative development of policy.
* Embrace constructive challenge and diverse thinking while keeping pace in a fast‑moving environment.
* Take a flexible approach and be willing to assist other projects and workstreams within the programme as needs arise.
* Act as an active team member, contributing to a high‑performing, agile team that thrives amid high demand and ambiguity.
Key Skills & Experience
* Experience working with central government to develop policy, including collaboration with economists and scientists.
* Strategic thinking and decision‑making ability.
* Excellent communication and engagement skills, with the ability to translate complex or ambiguous information into targeted advice on short notice.
* Experience of working across boundaries and influencing at all levels.
Additional Information
Location: EA Office (flexible working arrangements available). Some travel, including occasional overnight stays, may be required.
