Project Details
We are seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the team in Slough for a social housing property maintenance company. You will be supporting the Quantity Surveyors in managing the costs related to housing refurbishment projects to maximise profitability while maintaining quality standards.
Responsibilities and Duties
As the Assistant Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible for:
1. Assisting in the preparation of accurate cost estimates for projects during tendering
2. Supporting the development and maintenance of project budgets
3. Gathering and analysing data on material costs, labour, and equipment.
4. Helping in the preparation and management of contracts, including reviewing terms and conditions
5. Monitoring contract compliance and assisting in resolving disputes and variations
6. Assisting in the management of sub-contractor contracts and agreements
7. Measuring and valuing work completed on site to prepare interim valuations
8. Assisting in the preparation and submittal of client payment applications
9. Handling subcontractor payments and ensuring timely reconciliation
10. Supporting the procurement of materials and subcontractor services
11. Assist with obtaining quotes, and negotiating favourable terms with suppliers
12. Monitoring project costs and preparing regular cost reports
13. Help identify project risks and propose mitigation strategies
14. Contribute to the resolution of financial or contractual matters when they occur.
15. Ensure that all work adheres to legal, contractual and company standards
16. Maintain accurate records of costs, contracts and communications.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements
23. A degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, construction management, or a related field is advantageous
24. A valid UK driving license is desirable
