To undertake the role of a Clinical Coder within clinical groups or specialties, abstracting information from patient notes and other sources, and assigning appropriate codes onto the Trust’s patient administration system in line with national standards.

* Band 5 ACC-qualified Clinical Coders (with a 15% Recruitment & Retention Premium)
* Band 4 Clinical Coders who have completed the NHS Clinical Coding Foundation Course

Note: Only the Band 5 role is subject to the R&R Premium, which is applicable upon commencement and included in the salary from the start of employment. The premium is subject to renewal in December 2025.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead responsibility for coding complex activities, including deceased patients, ensuring high-quality coded data verified by audit.
2. Maintain coding accuracy in line with national requirements during audits.
3. Assist management in validating coded data, monitoring, and reporting on performance and data quality issues.
4. Organise and lead coverage for absent team members, extracting clinical information from patient notes across various wards and specialties.
5. Participate in developing and managing coding services to improve accuracy.
6. Exhibit expertise in clinical coding data to support Payment by Results, managing the coding service to provide accurate, timely data for all episodes of care using ICD10 and OPCS4.
