The Division of Surgery is seeking Nursing Assistants to join the Acute Theatre suite. Our department features 10 theatres performing both elective and emergency procedures, including adult and paediatric General & Colorectal, Orthopaedic (elective and trauma), Plastic trauma, and emergency surgeries in Gynaecology, Breast, ENT, and Maxillofacial. There may also be opportunities to assist with emergency procedures in the Maternity Delivery Suite.

Your role as a Nursing Assistant will involve supporting qualified theatre practitioners such as Theatre Nurses and Operating Department Practitioners. Key responsibilities include:
1. Ensuring availability of equipment for surgeons and scrub practitioners, supporting them during procedures.
2. Accurately completing patient paperwork and updating the ORMIS system promptly.
3. Participating in theatre team briefs and WHO checklists to ensure safe surgery.
4. Handling and moving heavy loads, including trays of instruments, equipment, and patient transfers.
5. Advocating for patients by maintaining their privacy and dignity.
6. Maintaining cleanliness in line with Trust policies on Health & Safety and Infection Prevention.
7. Working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently when needed.
8. Anticipating the needs of the surgical team.
9. Promoting health and safety standards by identifying risks and working safely.
10. Applying infection control techniques, including waste management, hand hygiene, and PPE usage.
11. Contributing to team effectiveness through active participation and commitment.
