Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the CNA is to ensure residents receive care through tasks such as:
* Assisting residents with bathing, toileting, oral hygiene, skin care, grooming, nail care, and dressing needs.
* Feeding residents, providing bedside water, snacks, and transferring residents as needed, in accordance with nutritional plans.
* Responding promptly to resident call lights and requests for assistance, following facility policy.
* Maintaining resident rooms by making beds, changing linens, cleaning bedside tables, and organizing belongings.
* Observing and reporting any changes in residents' appetite, skin condition, or behaviors.
* Offering emotional support and active listening to help residents develop trust and independence.
* Maintaining confidentiality and respecting residents' rights and privacy.
* Documenting medical information such as vitals and assistance provided, as per facility policy.
* Following safety, infection control, and cleanliness standards.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
* High school diploma or GED, unless under a student permit.
* Certification by the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) as a CNA in good standing. CNAs transferring from another state may work 120 days while awaiting Indiana certification. Graduating CNA students may also work 120 days while awaiting certification.
* Basic computer skills, including familiarity with programs like Excel and Word.
* Understanding of safe and effective nursing practices within Indiana.
* Interpersonal skills, including:
o Assisting licensed nurses with procedures within the scope of practice.
o Following written and verbal instructions, working independently, and making decisions.
o Dealing tactfully with residents, families, visitors, and staff.
o Working harmoniously with team members.
o Prioritizing tasks according to standards and policies.
o Protecting confidential information in compliance with HIPAA and corporate policies.
o Patience, enthusiasm, and a mature approach to resident care.
o Adherence to professional ethics and effective communication of resident conditions.
