We are looking for an experienced CNC Programmer / CNC Machinist to join our growing client, supporting a wider mechanical engineering and fabrication operation.
The machine shop currently consists of three CNC milling machines and three CNC lathes, with a small, skilled team of machinists. The successful candidate will play a key role in programming, setting, and machining components used in fixtures, jigs, machines, and engineered assemblies.
CNC Machinist Day‑to‑day responsibilities
Programming, setting, and operating CNC mills and CNC lathes
Working on a mix of offline CAM programming and on‑machine conversational programming
Producing high‑quality components from engineering drawings
Machining one‑off or low‑volume parts (typically one‑offs and two‑offs)
Programming using Hurco and OneCNC
Using a variety of CNC equipment including XYZ machines (Flexible on machine experience)
Working to tight tolerances and high engineering standards
Supporting the wider workshop where required including:
Basic fitting
Occasional welding or fabrication support
Contributing ideas to improve machining methods and efficiencyTechnical environment

You will be an experienced, hands‑on machinist who is comfortable owning jobs from programming through to finished component.
Essential experience:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in CNC programming (not just setter/operator)
Strong background in CNC Milling and Turning
Experience with offline CAM programming and on‑machine conversational programming
Ability to interpret detailed engineering drawings
Practical problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
Willingness to assist with basic fitting or fabrication tasks when required
