Job Overview
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated medical education fellow in medical education with an interest in simulation training. The aim of this post is to work together with the Postgraduate and Undergraduate Medical Education teams to help coordinate, deliver and develop medical education, across the interdisciplinary spectrum, at our main site, the Princess Alexandra hospital NHSE Trust in Harlow.
There will be an emphasis on helping to deliver and support medical simulation training with the department as well as helping deliver medical education to medical students from Queen Mary's University London (QMUL) and Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) Medical Schools. In addition, the successful application will be supported in their person educational development and encouraged to seek opportunities of further postgraduate qualifications in this area.
The post is designed to allow full time educational activities but includes time allowance to maintain clinical practice in your chosen speciality area for one day per week, as a level of dependant on the applicant's experience and qualification.
Close working relationship will be vital to the successful application and the ability to communicate and work flexibly in a Multi Professional environment will be vital. This involves the Undergraduate Dean, Royal College Tutors, Director of Medical Education, Simulation Skills team, Undergraduate administrators.
collaboration with subject matter experts such as Transfusion Practitioner, Resuscitation team will be essential as will be the library staff.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be supported by the Medical Education team.
The medical education fellow will help to supervise and work closely alongside a group of FY3 teaching fellows who are employed in joint clinical and educational roles within the trust.
Mentoring and development of FY3 Teaching Fellows as educators, providing guidance on planning teaching sessions and mapping to the QMUL/ARU curricula appropriately, providing peer/near-peer reviews and feedback for all the FY3 Teaching Fellows and any of the resident doctors who are delivering a teaching session.
The applicant will proficient in the use of simulation technology, methods of debriefing and able to undertake leadership of simulation courses and or sessions.
Representation at annual medical school site visits is required as well as academic endeavour in the form of poster presentation and research enquiry.
