Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist
Location: Closeburn House – Dumfriesshire DG3 5HP
Salary: Up to £53,200 pro rata (dependent on experience)
Hours: 22 hours per week, 08:30am - 4:30pm (3 days a week)
Contract: Permanent 52 weeks

Responsibilities
* Deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils in an education setting, in collaboration with the education team.
* Hold a Speech and Language therapy caseload with support from a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
* Contribute to staff training and provide consultation as required.
* Work within the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working, aligning practice with governing and professional body requirements.
* Participate in developing enhanced SLT services by supporting apprentices, students, and therapy assistants.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to maintain a holistic, safeguarding-focused environment and ensure pupils are heard, respected, and involved in decisions affecting them.
Essential Criteria
* Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy
* HCPC registered
* 1-2 years’ experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT in a similar setting
* Experience engaging with individuals with complex and diverse communication profiles
* Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice
* Experience of multidisciplinary working across varied settings
* Experience communicating with/working with families, relatives and carers
* Interest in developing knowledge and skills across different SLT practice areas
* Strong relationship-building, analytical and judgmental skills; good oral and written communication
* Good time management and organisational skills
* Competent in core SLT practice and understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards
* Knowledge of SLT assessment tools, intervention types, and ability to formulate support plans based on needs profiles
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Williness to attend training and pursue further qualifications relevant to the client group
Desirable
* Understanding of sensory and motor factors that may impact communication
* Understanding the relationship between arousal levels and communication
* Full driving licence and access to a car (highly desirable)
