GMP Recruitment are proud to be in partnership with a Hereford based, specialist property legal firm. We are currently supporting their recruitment for an experienced Paralegal/Legal Assistant to join their team on a full time, permanent contract.
This is an office position, working Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm offering a salary up to £30,000. There is flexibility for hybrid working following the successful completion of probation.
The successful candidate will support fee earner(s) within the residential conveyancing team to reach monthly invoicing targets, ensuring files are processed following established systems and policies and procedures including the Office Manual, the conveyancing protocol/CQS and LEXCEL accreditation schemes.
You will undertake all aspects of work on conveyancing matters for clients as directed by the fee earner, ensuring diligent, and efficient conduct of all work, and appropriately delegating more routine work to admin and secretarial staff.
Paralegal main duties:
* Taking initial instructions from clients, and producing quotes via Perfect Portal
* Keeping clients up to date with progress in respect of their transaction(s) as appropriate
* Answering queries, as necessary, from selling Agents and other third parties
* Opening new files in Leap, and sending out initial standard documentation to clients and other parties
* Thorough understanding of compliance requirements including ID, PEP checks, source of funding checks, money laundering matters and risk assessments
* Receiving ID from clients, undertaking Smart searches, uploading to Leap
* Accurate data entry and record keeping in Leap including compliance
* Preparing contract packs
* Ordering searches and checking
* Dealing with Gifted Deposit documentation
* Updating and downloading mortgage documentation from LMS and Lender Exchange
* Preparing SDLT and Welsh Land Tax returns and submitting within statutory timeframe
Paralegal required skills and experience:
* Previous experience acting as a case worker in Commercial cases.
* Previous property experience very advantageous
* Flexible approach to provide cover / assistance for other positions and duties when required.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Numerate: ability to make sense of financial information and track working time.
* Strong IT skills: adaptability to information systems quickly, ability to learn how to use case management systems effectively.
* Excellent literacy skills including drafting style, attention to detail and accurate use of the English language.
* Clear and concise communication, good listener and able to adapt information to suit audience.
