Job Summary
As a Clinical Pharmacy Assistant you will be required to complete a medicines management qualification to accurately assess patients’ own medications and provide medication supply as per departmental SOPs. You will need excellent communication skills, be self‑motivated, flexible and able to work under pressure. Computer literacy is required; training on pharmacy systems will be provided.
Responsibilities
* Assist the Pharmacy Medicines Management Team at ward level to ensure smooth discharge of patients, assessment of patients’ own medicines, ordering of necessary medicines and support of discharge processes.
* Transfer patient medicines between wards, label and dispense medicines, manage medicine returns from wards.
* Work as part of a team providing a quality dispensing service, visiting various wards to provide medicines provision for patients.
* Work flexible hours including weekends, bank holidays and late duties on a rotational basis.

* Computer literacy and keyboard skills.
* Enthusiastic, motivated and able to use initiative with minimum supervision.
* Organise and prioritise own workload to meet deadlines.
* Work as part of a team with excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
* Flexible approach to work and open to changing practices.
* Good analytical, judgmental and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent spoken and written English.
Education, Qualifications & Training
* GCSE grade C in Mathematics and English or equivalent.
* NVQ level 2 or 3 in Pharmacy Services and/or willing to undertake NVQ level 3 units in Pharmacy Services within an agreed timescale.
Knowledge & Experience
* General work experience.
* Experience in a pharmacy environment (desirable).
* Understanding of pharmacy service changes (desirable).
