As part of Inverclyde Council’s ‘Inverclyde Works’ recruitment and training drive, we are inviting applications for the Modern Apprentice (MA) Programme for Inverclyde residents aged between 16–24 years who have a keen interest in Carpentry & Joinery and a willingness to learn and adapt to a working and learning environment. The age range increases to up to 29 years for Inverclyde residents who have a disability and/or are care experienced.
Programme details
Successful applicants will be employed on a fixed term 4 year contract, working 37 hours per week, and will work towards attainment of the SCQF Level 6 Carpentry and Joinery qualification. The annual salary is £24,242. This is a work-based qualification, and you will undertake a job role which allows you to provide the required evidence in a working environment to successfully achieve the qualification. Your supervisor will work with you to develop key skills such as working in teams, problem solving, communication and using IT. There will be visits from your Training Provider Assessor, who will ensure that you undertake the full training programme both at college and on site. This qualification is delivered through college attendance as well as ongoing assessment in the workplace.
Qualifications and requirements
* Applicants must have 2 National 5 qualifications, at Grade C or above (or equivalent) in English and a Craft Related Subject such as Craft & Design, Practical Woodworking, Practical Craft Skills, Design & Manufacture or Design & Technology or have completed a relevant Foundation Apprenticeship.
* In addition, you must be willing to work towards the necessary training and qualifications required to undertake the duties of your post.
