VH Talent is excited to be supporting a leading engineering organisation, to appoint a Sales Processing Supervisor.
Are you a data driven Team Leader with a passion for improving processes and enhancing operational performance? In this pivotal role, you’ll lead the Sales Processing team, focusing on optimising order management workflows, analysing performance data, and strengthening cross-functional collaboration, particularly with Procurement, Supply Chain and Production.
You’ll oversee the full sales order lifecycle while identifying inefficiencies, improving systems, and implementing best practices to drive accuracy, delivery performance, and customer satisfaction. Working closely with internal departments and customers, you’ll ensure clear communication, proactive planning, and continuous operational improvement.
If you’re motivated by developing people, streamlining processes, leveraging data to influence decisions, and building strong cross-functional partnerships, this is an opportunity to make a measurable impact.
The Sales Processing Supervisor Role:
* Lead a small team of Sales Order Processors / Customer Service Representatives, driving accountability, performance, and continuous improvement.
* Conduct training sessions, hold regular one-to-ones, and carry out performance reviews, using KPIs and data insights to guide development and improve results.
* Oversee order entry, order processing, and proactive management of the order book to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and on-time delivery.
* Analyse sales order data, backlog trends, service levels, and delivery performance to identify risks, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
* Work closely with Procurement to align supply availability with demand, address material shortages, and improve lead time accuracy.
* Collaborate with Supply Chain, Sales, Engineering, and S&OP teams to improve forecasting accuracy and reduce order fulfilment challenges.
* Drive process optimisation initiatives across the sales processing function, implementing best practices to enhance workflow efficiency and reduce errors.
* Develop and maintain reporting dashboards to monitor KPIs including OTIF, order accuracy, backlog value, and customer performance metrics.
* Manage and improve customer portal processes and inventory data accuracy to ensure seamless order handling.
* Support Finance with invoice accuracy, delivery reconciliations, and receivables follow-up.
* Lead root cause analysis on recurring delivery or order issues and implement corrective actions.
* Prioritise workload effectively during peak periods, ensuring service levels are maintained through structured planning.
* Ensure compliance with delivery documentation, export requirements, and customer-specific declarations.
* Handle escalations professionally, using structured problem-solving approaches to drive long-term solutions rather than short-term fixes.
You’ll Need:
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and translate insights into actionable process improvements.
* Experience using ERP systems (preferably M3) and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for reporting and analysis.
* Proven experience in sales order processing, sales operations, or a similar function within a technical or engineering environment.
* Demonstrated experience working closely with Procurement and Supply Chain to resolve material availability or lead time challenges.
* Strong process improvement mindset, with experience implementing workflow enhancements and efficiency initiatives.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills across all organisational levels.
* Experience coaching and developing team members using performance data and structured feedback.
* Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Proactive and solutions-focused approach, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability. Detail-oriented and quality-driven, ensuring high levels of accuracy in documentation, reporting, and system data.
* Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
What’s in it for you:
* 33 Days annual leave (including Bank Holidays)
* Early finish Fridays
* Discretionary bonus
* Being part of an organisation that rewards success and drives a continuous improvement culture, providing training and development opportunities
* Company pension, perks and benefits
