As our business grows, we are excited to offer an opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to join our team. This role supports development and helps meet the needs of our expanding clientele. The Electrical Engineer drives the design to meet demand, oversees installation and commissioning of electrical solutions and life safety systems for data centre projects and customer-specific requirements. The role may involve collaboration with other engineering disciplines and ensures compliance with technical standards, safety regulations, and operational specifications while optimizing energy efficiency and minimizing downtime. This role is primarily site-based and requires flexibility to meet project and customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
 * Design Leadership: Lead the design of electrical systems for data centres, including power distribution, UPS, generators, lighting, earthing, and fire alarm systems, ensuring designs are cost-effective, compliant with relevant standards, and tailored to facility needs.
 * Collaboration: Work with internal teams and external stakeholders (clients, contractors, consultants) to deliver integrated electrical systems for data centre projects.
 * Quality Assurance: Ensure electrical designs meet industry standards, building regulations, and client specifications; oversee development and production of technical drawings, specifications, and calculations.
 * Technical Expertise: Provide technical leadership and support for design, installation, and commissioning of electrical systems in data centres; perform detailed calculations, simulations, and load assessments.
 * Project Management: Contribute to project planning, scheduling, and budgeting to ensure timely delivery of electrical designs.
Qualifications
 * City and Guilds, NVQ or equivalent in an electrical discipline.
 * A Building Services or Electrical Engineering degree or higher educational qualification (HNC/HND).
 * Essential: Technical understanding of HV and LV electrical systems and the primary components within them.
 * Essential: Proficient knowledge of electrical principles and some advanced principles.
 * Essential: Demonstrated experience in the operations, maintenance, engineering, construction, and delivery of mission-critical facilities.
 * Essential: Produce Energy Analysis reviews based on data from operational performance; ability to analyze problems affecting critical operation of facilities and propose solutions, sometimes with limited information.
 * Essential: Ideally experience within the data centre industry, with hyperscale data centre operators, lease providers, or allied sectors (e.g., Petro-Chem/Pharma/Process control) or similar complex power/cooling environments.
 * BS7858 screening process eligibility (as per policy).
Desirable
 * Experience in Mission Critical Environments (e.g., Hospitals, Finance, Data Centres).
 * ASHRAE Electrical or Commissioning understanding.
 * Fire detection and fire suppression systems, operational and standards knowledge.
 * BMS and PMS (Trend, Citect Scada, Schneider PMO, Schneider StructureWare).
 * Knowledge of electrical control systems (Zelio Logic and PLCs).
 * Electrical/Mechanical/Controls and Fire & Life Safety conceptual design.
