Delivery Suite Co-ordinator
Act as a role model, leader, and expert practitioner, providing stability and continuity to ensure care is delivered in line with the latest research and evidence‑based practice.
Work in collaboration with the Delivery Suite ward manager and lead consultant to oversee effective management of safety, quality and risk within the Delivery Suite, ensuring safe, efficient and effective triage, midwifery‑led and obstetric‑led care.
Have operational responsibility and accountability for the Delivery Suite and provide managerial and professional support to the maternity service, undertaking delegated responsibility in the absence of the ward manager.
Maintain situational awareness, be approachable and encouraging escalation at all levels, and undertake the Maternity Bleep Holder Role within the unit.
An Enhanced DBS with barred lists for both Adults & Children is required for this post.
Main duties of the job
* Provide a safe environment for women, their families and staff.
* Ensure all incidents are reported immediately via Datix and investigated in a timely manner, instigating midwifery management involvement as necessary.
* Provide effective and inspirational leadership for colleagues working on delivery suite and contribute to the wider midwifery leadership team within the maternity services.
* Act as shift co‑ordinator, accepting operational responsibility and accountability for Delivery Suite and providing managerial and professional support to the maternity service.
* Undertake delegated responsibility in the absence of the Delivery Suite manager.
* Act as an advocate for the woman, ensuring maternity care is tailored to her individual needs to facilitate a positive birth outcome for the woman and her partner.
* Ensure appropriate delegation of midwifery staff to women within the Delivery Suite and consider redeployment post‑assessment of need across the Maternity Service.
* Be highly competent, knowledgeable and supportive to all staff within the midwifery team.
* Actively contribute to training and education within the Delivery Suite.
* Support the Delivery Suite Clinical Educator by facilitating a conducive learning culture and environment.
* Provide strong leadership within the midwifery service, acting as a role model for midwives and student midwives.
Qualifications
* Registered Midwife, with current NMC registration.
* Assessing and Mentoring qualification.
* Evidence of ongoing dynamic continuing professional development within the speciality linked to demonstrable clinical competencies.
* Willingness to undertake the PMA (A_EQUIP) Course.
* Attained an additional degree or willingness to study towards one.
Knowledge & Experience
* Evidence of fulfilling revalidation requirements.
* Experience of line managing a team, including setting objectives and conducting appraisals.
Skills
* Demonstrate excellent clinical skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication.
* Ability to lead and organise a team.

Annual salary range: £49,387 to £56,515 per annum, pro rata.
