Quantity Surveyor or Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Location: Workington office; covering Cumbria and surrounding area. Hybrid role. Working Monday to Friday, typically 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (37.5 hours per week). Position available due to internal promotion.
We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support our Social Housing Planned Works and Voids programs. You will work from home, office, and on site, collaborating with operational teams across the region on refurbishment, voids, and retrofit repair works of tenanted social housing properties.

Responsibilities
* Assist in preparation, processing and selection of estimates, bids and tenders to tight timescales.
* Assist in the development of the procurement programme.
* Prepare and monitor cash‑flow forecast for designated projects.
* Prepare and submit monthly payment applications to the client or client’s representative.
* Prepare monthly valuation reports.
* Submit invoices for certified value and ensure payments are received on time.
* Value and authorise payments to sub‑contractors.
* Liaise with contract managers to establish project specifications and requirements.
* Attend and contribute to meetings with work colleagues and/or clients/customers when necessary, building relationships and demonstrating excellent communication skills.
* Monitor contract progress, assess and report any changes that may affect project costs or timescale.
* Assist in the control of contract budgets.
Qualifications
You will have experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Assistant Quantity Surveyor, ideally within the social housing sector but not essential. Refurbishment experience working on multiple contracts is essential. Knowledge of JCT and Measure Term contracts is vital. Attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. Proficiency in MS Office and expertise with IT is required. A full UK driving licence is mandatory; travel is required for the role. A DBS check will be required.
