RSK Asbestos is a UKAS accredited consultancy with offices in Hemel Hempstead, Coventry, Helsby and Glasgow. The company provides comprehensive asbestos consultancy services across the country, including asbestos surveys for general management within buildings and for refurbishment or demolition projects.

* Starting salary: £21,000 per year (increasing to National Minimum/Living Wage if applicable)

What will I be doing as an apprentice?
RSK Asbestos offers the opportunity to earn a salary while studying towards a nationally recognised qualification through a Level 3 Asbestos Surveying and Analyst Apprenticeship. As a Trainee Asbestos Surveyor and Analyst you will receive comprehensive on‑the‑job training and guidance from experienced surveyors, analysts and project managers. Your journey begins with shadowing lead professionals and progresses through a structured training program, culminating in BOHS P402, P403 and P404 qualifications, becoming a certified Asbestos Analyst and Surveyor.
* Work alongside lead surveyors/analysts during surveys and inspections
* Investigate building works as part of an Asbestos Survey team, ranging from domestic properties through to Grade II listed buildings and power stations
* Air monitoring, sampling and analysis
* Collect factual and numerical data
* Learn approved methods and stay current with legislation
* Progress through our training program to become an authorised surveyor
* Represent RSK Environmental Ltd professionally in all interactions
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
* Fulfil administrative duties including data entry and report production
What could the future look like?
The apprenticeship serves as a stepping stone towards a rewarding career in Asbestos Analysis and Surveying, with the opportunity to become a registered Technician (RSci Tech) and pave the way for further educational and professional development. You have the potential to secure a full‑time position with the business at the end of your apprenticeship and progress into leadership positions across construction, engineering, aerospace, automotive or research and development sectors.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
Working in the asbestos industry requires precision, care and a strong sense of responsibility. You will be results oriented, detail focused, and able to think on your feet to identify problems and record observations. You will have a respect for health & safety, a desire to keep learning about the asbestos industry and its guidelines, and you will bring a positive team player attitude with strong interpersonal skills.
About You
You will be 18+, hold a clean UK Driving Licence, and be willing to drive to different sites on a daily basis. The role will require occasional heavy lifting, working at heights and in confined spaces. You will be a confident communicator, a positive team player, reliable, trustworthy and able to work independently. Previous experience with tools and technical equipment is beneficial but not essential.
Experience
We value attitude, curiosity, and commitment. While previous experience can be helpful, it is not essential – we welcome applicants from all backgrounds, especially those with a genuine interest in the field and the motivation to build a career. Familiarity with a construction environment or practical tools is beneficial but not required.
Qualifications
It is enthusiasm that matters. The most successful apprentices are driven to find out more about the sector, can be upfront about what they do and don’t already know, are considerate, self‑reflective, and eager to learn the job role.
So how does the apprenticeship work?
Over 18 months you will devote a minimum of 6 hours of your working week to off‑the‑job training, including theory (virtual lessons and online learning) and practical training (shadowing, mentoring and assignments). This will count towards a Level 3 Asbestos Technician apprenticeship. You will be trained by an expert tutor from Tiro and an experienced mentor at RSK Asbestos, ensuring you develop the knowledge, skills and work habits you need to succeed.
Eligibility
Applicants must be over 18, not in full‑time education, have lived in the UK for 3 years, and have the right to work in the UK. Minimum eligibility is set by UK Government rules. If you already hold a Level 3, degree or equivalent higher‑level qualification in a closely related field, or possess substantial relevant experience, you may not be eligible for apprenticeship funding as these programmes are designed for individuals who require upskilling or reskilling.
