A Prescription Administrator works as part of the practice team supporting clinicians in the management of both acute and repeat prescriptions. Liaising with patients about their prescriptions and ensuring patients records are up to date, accurate and processed in a timely manner. This role may include reception cover with duties including booking appointments, patient enquiries, general admin and tasks.
Main duties of the job
* Answering medication queries from patients, staff, pharmacies and care homes.
* Process prescriptions
* Forward medication related queries to an appropriate Health Care Professional in a timely manner
* Allocate medication reviews
* Provide patients with information and education on their prescriptions
* Promote online ordering and use of electronic prescribing
* Be aware of the monitoring requirements for certain drug which require follow up or regular monitoring
* Bring under/over usage to the attention of a Health Care Professional
* Check tasks regularly and action appropriately
* Review clinical letters and workflow as appropriate
* Ensure adequate stock of prescriptions
* Reception duties including booking appointments, patient enquires, admin and tasks

Manor Primary Care is a medium sized GP practice based in Skelmersdale, Lancashire. Our clinical team consists of 3 GP Partners, 2 salaried GP, 1 ANP, Locums, Practice Nurses and 2 HCA's supported by a large admin team.
Job responsibilities
As the first point of contact for prescription/medication related queries you will ensure the highest quality of care regarding patient medication. Duties will include answering medication queries, processing prescriptions, allocating medication reviews, promoting online ordering and use of electronic prescriptions, drug monitoring, completion of patient tasks and review of clinical letters.
A calm manner and methodical approach is important. You will have access to patients medical records and confidentiality is of the upmost importance.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE
* Any recognised training in medicine management
Experience
* Experience working within a Customer Service role
* Understanding the importance of Data Protection Act
* Experience of working within a GP Practice
* Experience of read coding and notes summarising will be an additional advantage
