This job provides respiratory caretreatment oxygen services diagnostic testing and ventilationsupport services to both inpatients and outpatients ranging in agefrom neonatal to geriatric. The RTCRT setups monitors and weansOxygen Therapy and Artificial ventilation. The RTCRT draws analyzesand reports Arterial Blood Gases and EKGs. The RTCRT deliversintermittent therapy and assists with changing of artificialairways. The RTCRT provides services as ordered by a physician andin accordance with established policies and procedures.

Certifications
Required Current License as a Respiratory Therapist in thestate of practice
Certification by the National Board ofRespiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American HeartAssociation
ACLS obtained in 90 days
Knowledge Skills and Abilities(KSAs)
15. Must havecomputer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrievalof information.
16. Effective verbal and writtencommunication skills and the ability to present information clearlyand professionally.
17. Must be proficient withWindowsstyle applications various software packages specific torole and keyboard.

JobDuties
19. Performsroutine and advanced therapeutic procedures according toestablished policy and procedure.
20. Reviews anddocuments all clinical information regarding eachpatient.
21. Educates patients and coworkers onprocedures and treatment plans.
22. Performsdiagnostic procedures.
23. Provides care based onphysical; psycho/social educational safety and related criteriaappropriate to the age of patient served in assignedarea.
24. Adapts behavior to the specific patientpopulation including but not limited to: respect for privacy methodof introduction to the patient adapting explanation of services orprocedures to be performed requesting permissions and communicationstyle.

Must be able to work a flexible workschedule (24/7 weekend holiday on call availability).
Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood bodyfluid and tissue.
The incumbent works in apatient care area; works in an area where patients enter; worksdirectly with patients; and/or works with specimens that couldcontain diseases. There may be an occupational risk for exposure toall communicable diseases.
Because the incumbentworks within a healthcare setting there may be occupational riskfor exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within theenvironment through receipt transport storage preparationdispensing administration cleaning and/or disposal of contaminatedwaste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on theessential job duties of the role.
