Job Opportunity: Shift Controller at Thames Water
This is an exciting opportunity to further your career in a high-profile role with the largest water company in the UK.
We are looking to recruit someone into our team that produces millions of litres of safe, clean, and palatable water for our customers across South-West Surrey each day.
You will be working in a close-knit and supportive team with other shift technicians, responsible for making important decisions to optimise water production and maintain output and quality.

This position offers real progression opportunities and includes training for ‘Level 5 Management of Water Production’.
Responsibilities as a Shift Controller
1. Coordinate with site managers, maintenance, Water Quality, and control centre teams to monitor and manage water treatment processes.
2. Respond to and resolve challenging situations, providing technical input.
3. Operate Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
4. Conduct sampling and analysis to ensure compliance.
5. Perform fault finding, emergency response, and manual interventions.
6. Maintain records and shift logs.
7. Prioritize health and safety, contribute to risk assessments, and ensure a safe environment.
8. Update technical knowledge and procedures.
The role is based at the Shalford Water Production site in Surrey (GU4 8BW), with responsibilities extending to the wider Guildford area, involving travel between sites.
Working pattern: 12-hour rotating shifts.
Candidate Requirements
1. Experience in process or manufacturing environments, especially control and quality assurance roles.
2. Experience may come from water, food, manufacturing, brewing, or utility industries.
3. Practical experience with attention to detail and troubleshooting skills.
4. A proactive, problem-solving attitude and calmness under pressure.
5. Effective communication skills and proficiency with IT and Microsoft Office.
6. Experience with SCADA software is a plus.
7. Full UK driving license for site travel.
