About The Role
As a Fabricator / Welder (known internally as a Kiln Car Maintenance Operative) you will be working as part of the maintenance team, repairing and maintaining the equipment (kiln cars) which transport bricks in and out of our kilns and dryers. This role is a hands‑on maintenance role, where you will become a specialist in your particular area.
Duties
* Repairing the steelwork and main frame of the kiln cars
* Straightening kiln car decks and replacing damaged blocks
* Maintaining minimum levels of refractory blocks
* Repair/grease kiln car axles and wheels
* Strip and rebuild kiln car refractories
* Record materials usage & maintain stock records
* Conduct running repairs to fleet (e.g., wheel lubrication)
* Maintain accurate records and high standards of housekeeping
Hours of Work
7.30 am to 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday

* You’ll enjoy working in a busy environment where you can roll your sleeves up and get hands‑on.
* You’ll be flexible and able to adapt to the different daily priorities in the factory which help us run efficiently.
* Safety is our biggest priority, so you’ll be committed to safe working and have good general safety awareness.
* You’ll be fit enough to perform your duties, which are varied, and sometimes physically demanding.
You Will Also Have
* Basic welding/fabrication experience
* Good communication skills
* Flexibility, enthusiasm and the ability to use own initiative and work as part of a team
* Ability to read fabrication/engineering drawings
* Good computer literacy and numeracy skills
* The ability to achieve goals and targets
* Organisational skills
* Excellent time keeping
* A can‑do attitude
Experience in a factory/manufacturing environment is desirable.
