The role:
* As Senior Buyer you will develop, implement, and review a trading strategy for a specific product range, developing innovative buying strategies which exceed customer expectations.
* The Senior Buyer will be responsible for ensuring that the supply base and the product range is optimized using data and analysis to maximize performance and drive sales, profitability and market share
* Negotiating with suppliers you will agree and deliver market leading joint business plans aligned to customer and wider commercial strategy. You will use your expertise in regionality, variation, alcohol levels etc to source and range a broad range that delights customers and ensures the retailer is a wine destination.
* The Senior Buyer will source new and innovative ranges and product innovations that exceeds customers expectations
* In the role the Senior Buyer will use category expertise to navigate category specific challenges such as duty, supply chain etc
* You will manage and develop an assistant buyer
* Working with internal and external stakeholders you will develop the strategic plan that will deliver long term growth.
* This Senior Buyer role is ideal for a commercial individual who has buying experience gained from UK retail or wholesale. This needs to be from one of the UK’s top 15 retailers and needs to be within a category you would find in a supermarket
* It is essential to be able to demonstrate hands on buying and have negotiated directly with suppliers. You must be able to show good commercial acumen, strong analytical and problem solving skills along with excellent communication skills
* You will have experience of sourcing new suppliers and products and delivering commercial results across an extensive range
* Must be a fantastic relationship builder with the ability to work cross functionally internally and externally
* In addition, you will demonstrate a passion for the customer and a flair for commerciality
