We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to support secondary schools across Whitehaven and the surrounding West Cumbrian coastal area. Pay & Working Patterns
Daily Rate: £92 - £110 per day (Dependant on experience and qualification level).
Direct PAYE: No umbrella company fees. You are paid directly with all tax and National Insurance contributions handled transparently.
Flexibility: Full-Time (Monday-Friday) and Part-Time (1-4 days/week) roles are available to suit your lifestyle and commitments.
The Role at a Glance
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in the classroom, working alongside teachers to provide essential support to students who need it most.
Targeted Support: Work 1-to-1 or with small groups of students to clarify lesson objectives and boost their confidence in key subjects.
Inclusion & SEND: Support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively.
Behavior Mentoring: Help maintain a focused learning environment by building positive relationships and providing emotional support to students.
Literacy & Numeracy: Lead small "catch-up" interventions to help students improve their reading, writing, and math skills.
Classroom Assistance: Assist the class teacher with resource preparation and general classroom management to ensure smooth lesson delivery.
What You Need to Succeed
Experience: Previous experience working with children or young adults is preferred (e.g., youth work, sports coaching, care work, or previous school roles).
Aptitude: Strong literacy and numeracy skills, along with a calm and resilient nature.
Personality: A genuine passion for supporting the development of young people in our local community.
Compliance: An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one).
