 
        
        Senior Practice Pharmacist – NHS
Job Summary
Aire Valley Surgery and Guiseley & Yeadon Medical Practice are working together to serve a population of about 26,000 patients across four sites. We are expanding our pharmacy team and require a Senior Pharmacist to lead on site at Guiseley & Yeadon, oversee Prescription Clerks and Pharmacy Technicians, and drive medicines optimisation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
 * Leadership and management of the pharmacy team – mentorship, governance, resource utilisation and strategic development of prescribing practices.
 * Clinical medication reviews (including cohort, home‑visit and care‑home reviews) as a non‑medical prescriber.
 * Medicines quality improvement – conduct clinical audits, analyse prescribing data, identify high‑risk cohorts, and implement evidence‑based changes.
 * Medicines safety – respond to MHRA alerts, product withdrawals and national guidance.
 * Patient‑facing support – clinics, telephone help line, and transfer‑of‑care reconciliation.
 * Repeat prescribing – review repeat prescriptions and ensure appropriate monitoring.
 * Service development – advise on new services with medicinal components, create education leaflets, and contribute to quality improvement schemes.
 * Information management – present medicines data to staff and meetings, keep systems up‑to‑date.
 * Clinical education and training – design and deliver teaching, supervise juniors, and pursue continuous professional development.
 * Public health and community collaboration – support campaigns, liaise with local network, and ensure CQC compliance.
 * Business development – participate in business planning, gather feedback, and improve service delivery.
 * Health and safety – adhere to policies, manage risks, and report incidents.
 * Travel between sites and occasional home visits.
Qualifications and Experience
 * Qualified non‑medical prescriber.
 * Completed CPPE General Practice Pharmacist Training Pathway.
 * Current UK professional registration.
 * Relevant experience in community or general practice pharmacy (details in separate document).
Additional Requirements
 * Disclosure and Barring Service check (RUA 1975).
 * UK registration required.
Contract and Salary
 * Band 8a – salary depends on experience.
 * Permanent contract, full‑time, part‑time, job share, flexible working, compressed hours.
