Overview
A Personal Assistant is required for a 13-year-old boy who loves arts and crafts, particularly making things with air-dry clay, colouring in and tracing anime figures to colour in. He likes Minecraft, dinosaurs and loves animals. The family are looking for someone to support this boy to go out without family members and grow his independence, including activities such as visiting charity shops and cafes, The Deep, the cinema, and other outings.
Responsibilities
* Support the boy to participate in outings and activities, helping him stay safe and aware of obstacles (he tends to trip over or bump into things).
* Engage with him in a calm, patient, kind and caring manner; avoid tones that might be interpreted as shouting; create a positive and fun environment.
* Assist with daily routines and encourage independence while ensuring his safety.
Qualifications and Requirements
* DBS check required; offer of employment subject to satisfactory DBS disclosure (cost met by local authority).
* Ability to communicate in a supportive, patient manner and adapt tone to the child’s needs.
* Reliable and punctual with a commitment to the child’s well-being.
