The HIV, Immunology, Gastro and Hepatology Research Team (HIGH) at North Bristol NHS Trust is looking for a Clinical Research Nurse to support both commercial and non‑commercial studies. The successful candidate will work with a team at the Clinical Research Centre, Southmead Hospital, and contribute to the progress of treatments for patients suffering from a range of conditions.
The post is fixed‑term, aligned with current research funding, and will commence at the band minimum unless prior NHS service at the same band exists.
Responsibilities
 * Contribute to the performance of the HIGH Research Team.
 * Screen and recruit patients to a range of studies.
 * Use computer systems for data entry and management.
 * Enter research data onto study databases and manage any queries raised.
 * Co‑ordinate logistics for patient visits and undertake patient assessments in accordance with study protocol.
 * Maintain Investigator site file(s) and complete Case Report Forms (CRF/eCRF) accurately.
 * Ensure appropriate study information is accurately recorded in the patient’s records.
 * Monitor patients for any adverse events and report them timely.
 * Work closely with the senior research nurse, research nurse team and the Research & Development department to manage workload, study progress and personal development.
Qualifications
Essential
 * Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current live registration.
 * Significant post‑registration experience.
 * Experience of extended roles.
 * Effective personal time and case‑load management.
 * Ability to manage logistics to support workload.
 * Advanced communication skills, verbal and written.
 * Excellent interpersonal skills with patients and multidisciplinary team.
 * Evidence of continuing professional development.
 * Confident in the use of Microsoft applications.
 * Meticulous attention to detail.
 * Evidence of planning and problem‑solving.
 * Awareness of the Trust’s organisational objectives.
 * IV administration, cannulation, venepuncture.
Desirable
 * Degree level education in nursing or health‑related subject.
 * Recent research work experience.
 * Previous experience using databases and meticulous data entry skills.
 * Facilitation of development of other staff.
 * Full UK driving licence.
Personal Qualities / Special Circumstances
 * Flexibility of working days and times (with prior knowledge) to fit service needs; punctuality.
 * Interest in research and willingness to learn about the research process.
