SUMMARY OF POST:
This post will participate in a 1:12 on‑call rota and will attract a salary of £110,681 – £145,517 per annum.
The position is full‑time but part‑time or job‑share arrangements are welcome. It works alongside 12 other Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeons.
The post includes an attractive annual leave entitlement: a minimum of 32 days per annum, rising to 34 days after seven years’ seniority, plus 10 statutory and public holidays.
The Southern Trust has a dedicated revalidation support team, ensuring all doctors receive an annual appraisal with a trained appraiser and support through the revalidation process. Corporate Consultant Leads are designated for appraisal and revalidation.
The Trust supports continuing professional development (CPD) as required by the GMC, allocating time and financial support. New appointees to the Consultant role are allocated 2 PAs for Supporting Professional Activities (SPA).

An appointed fellow Trauma & Orthopaedic Consultant will act as a mentor to help the appointee transition into the role and into the Trust. Mentoring support is available during out‑of‑hours periods and weekends from fellow consultants.
